Whether you drive, hike, or take the historic Pikes Peak Cog Railway to the summit, the journey to the top is an adventure in itself. While Pike never reached the summit himself, his exploration paved the way for future expeditions and the eventual development of the area. The Pikes Peak Highway, completed in 1915, made the summit accessible to automobiles, and the Pikes Peak Cog Railway has been transporting visitors to the top since 1891. The mountain has also inspired countless artists, writers, and adventurers, solidifying its place in American culture. There are several ways to experience Pikes Peak. Drive the scenic Pikes Peak Highway, stopping at various viewpoints along the way to admire the stunning scenery. Hike one of the many trails that lead to the summit, challenging yourself physically while immersing yourself in the natural environment. Or, take a relaxing ride on the Pikes Peak Cog Railway, enjoying the views without the exertion. Don't forget to indulge in a famous Pikes Peak donut at the summit house – a delicious treat to celebrate your accomplishment!
